Rain, Rain Go Away

This weekend brought heavy rains, and heavy rains mean our driveway drain can't keep up. We watched as the downpour created a pond out front. Gary pulled the grate off the top and started shoveling in hopes of clearing the drain. The other end of the drain was just as high with water. You could get lost in the mud holes here right now. We asked Kelly at one point if she could hold her breathe if she fell in. She just told us no and that she would drown.

Today was better for the weather. The girls thought it was nice enough to head outside for a little "nap". Although the wind made it quite cool.

With the rain we had yesterday Gary thought it would be safe to burn a "little" bit of brush. He headed out in the morning and set it off. After some tractor mishaps he pushed up the pile and had it in control. The fire was settling down. We had dinner plans for Eric's birthday. When we got home tonight we found that apparently the fire department paid us a visit this afternoon. Never a dull moment. Gary said they could have put out the smoldering remains by p***ing on it.

Daisy Day

Today was the last day of Daisy Girl Scouts. This has been Laura's second year as a Daisy and tonight was the ceremony. She received the second year badge as well as swimming, caroling, historical building tour and the cookie badge. We'll have to get those badges on her smock soon. The girls will have a float in the Memorial Day parade and I'm sure she will want to show them off by then.

Here are some pics of the occasion. Laura with her troop leader, Miss Jessica. Gary and Kelly just hanging out.

The Day the Blog Began

So here it goes.... my first attempt at blogging. After following my sister-in-law's page for a little over a year, she so graciously helped me set up this page. Bear with me as I learn the ropes.

Today was Mother's Day, Happy Mother's Day, and we hosted a little family get together. We had a very nice, make your own sandwich lunch. Since none of the mom's wanted to spend their day cooking, we all agreed a simple lunch would be just fine. And it was!

The girls were very thoughtful in buying me a new rose bush for Mother's Day. Laura was also very thoughtful to pick out a new white sun dress as well. Not warm enough for those pictures yet! Enjoy the pics of the flowers for now.
